Attorney Liuzzo Attends Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of new USCIS Field Office
On October 14, 2010, USCIS hosted a grand opening ceremony of its newest New York State field office in Holtsville, New York, The ceremony was presided over by Director of USCIS, Alejandro Mayorkas, USCIS New York District Director Andrea Quarantillo, and Charles Akalski III, the new Holtsville Field Office Director, formerly of the NYC field office.
Located at 30 Barretts Avenue, Holtsville, New York 11742, this 47,000 square foot field office provides full-service immigration processing, from fingerprinting to processing naturalization and green card applications for USCIS customers residing in Nassau, Suffolk and certain parts of eastern Queens county, serving up to 400 USCIS customers per day.
Director Mayorkas expressed his pride at the field office opening, confirming that USCIS is continuing in its efforts to offer excellent customer service by providing accessible locations to customers all over the country.
Following Director Mayorkas’ remarks, USCIS District Director Andrea Quarantillo mentioned that the new Holtsville field office has eliminated the inconvenience sometimes caused to USCIS customers in Suffolk, Nassau, and Queens Counties given that they would no longer be required to travel to other, often inconveniently-located USCIS field offices for routine fingerprinting and other immigration services. In addition, she confirmed that a new USCIS Long Island City field office would open sometime next year and that additional new field office openings are currently being considered in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
USCIS customers can now schedule appointments with Immigration Service Officers through the InfoPass customer service tool offered by the new Holtsville office. The new office also has a large waiting area, a special room for hosting naturalization ceremonies, as well as rooms to carry out immigration interviews. Around 100 federal and contract employees who previously worked for the USCIS' field office in Garden City have been assigned as staff for this new field office.
